# In San Pedro de Atacama
Die Oase San Pedro de Atacama liegt auf 2450 m Höhe innerhalb der Atacama-Wüste, einer der trockensten und einsamsten Landschaften der Erde.
Innerhalb des Dorfes gibt es viele Hotels, Restaurants und Bars für die zahlreichen Touristen aus aller Welt, ausserhalb des Dorfes viel Ruhe und viel Natur: riesige Salzseen, Salzgebirge und -täler, von Wind und Wasser geformte Felsskulpturen, Schluchten, farbige Berge, Vulkane, Geysire, Thermalquellen, Flamingos, Guanakos, Vikunjas, Wüstenfüchse und viele Vögel, uralte Petroglyphen, verlassene Ruinen und nur ganz vereinzelt ein paar Menschen.
The oasis of San Pedro de Atacama lies at an altitude of 2,450 meters within the Atacama Desert, one of the driest and most isolated landscapes on Earth. Within the village, there are many hotels, restaurants, and bars catering to the numerous tourists from all over the world. Outside the village, there is peace and quiet and abundant nature: vast salt lakes, salt mountains and valleys, rock formations sculpted by wind and water, canyons, colorful mountains, volcanoes, geysers, hot springs, flamingos, guanacos, vicuñas, desert foxes, and many birds, ancient petroglyphs, abandoned ruins, and only a few scattered people.
