Lima ist die Hauptstadt Perus und mit Abstand grösste Stadt des Landes - rund ein Drittel der ca. 35 Millionen Einwohner Perus leben in der Metropolregion Lima. Die Stadt ist ein wichtiger Verkehrsknoten und das bedeutenste Wirtschafts- und Kulturzentrum Perus mit zahlreichen Universitäten, Museen und Baudenkmälern. Die Altstadt von Lima ist seit 1991 UNESCO Weltkulterbe.
Lima is the capital of Peru and by far the country's largest city – roughly a third of Peru's approximately 35 million inhabitants live in the Lima metropolitan area. The city is a major transportation hub and Peru's most important economic and cultural center, boasting numerous universities, museums, and historical monuments. Lima's historic center has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1991.
